At Glow Lab, we’re committed to using eco-friendly practices and reducing our impact on the environment.

In fact our bottles made from 100% recycled plastic won GOLD at the 2020 Packaging Innovation & Design of the Year Awards in the Health, Beauty & Wellness category. Since November 2018, as a company we have reused and diverted approximately 750 tonnes of plastic from landfill, through initiatives like these. Proud to be doing our part.

We are also 1 of 12 leading New Zealand businesses backing a diagnostic study to review New Zealand’s entire plastic packaging and recycling system. We know we cannot tackle the plastic issue alone and are proud to be part of the ground swell of change.

Our Plastic Pledge

By 2025 we aim to have all Glow Lab packaging made from recyclable, compostable or biodegradable materials. - yes to progress!

Did you know our amber plastic bottles used across skincare, haircare and personal wash are made from 100% recycled plastic - sourced from recycled water and juice bottles. We are also on a mission to improve our skincare tubes and serum pumps and are currently working with our suppliers on a solution (this technology is not yet available in NZ). As you can appreciate this isn't something that can be changed overnight.

Packaging

We have ISO 14001 environmental certification.

Cardboard outers and shippers for our products are recyclable, made from recycled content, and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) friendly. We recycle all our waste cardboard packaging

Cruelty Free

As self-proclaimed animal lovers, we are proudly a cruelty-free brand. None of our products are tested on animals and we use only ethically sourced, cruelty- free ingredients throughout the Glow Lab range.

We are proud to be a cruelty-free brand that’s recognized by PETA’s Global Beauty Without Bunnies program and while we don’t test on animals, we do test on us. Yep, that’s right! Every product is used and refined by the team behind Glow Lab to ensure it’s something we would use before launching it to you. – it’s a hard job really…

Grey Water Safe

Yes, all Glow Lab products are grey water safe. They contain no chlorinated bleaches; no phosphates and all surfactants are biodegradable.

Septic Tank Safe Products

Yes, the Glow Lab Bodywash ingredients are all biodegradable so are safe to use in a septic tank.

Factory Resources

We have an effective system at our factory to maintain the quality of wastewater discharged for treatment. We also carefully monitor our wastewater controls as per our Trade Waste Agreement with Water Care. To ensure water usage efficiency, we carefully monitor our annual water use based on later consumption vs production and compare it to results from previous years.

In 2020, we switched our electricity supplier to Meridian Energy - where all electricity generated comes from 100% renewable sources.

To ensure energy efficiency, we also monitor our annual energy use based on energy consumption vs production and compare it to results from previous years.

We use LED lights in our premises, LED lights are not only energy efficient but are 100% recyclable.
